Salva has to walk a desert that takes 3 days to walk with his uncle. He has to walk this whole desert with no shoes and only one bottle of water. Days go by, and he passes nine men on the ground, 5 are dead. As they leave the desert they go and make a fire, when suddenly men show up with weapons. They tied up Uncle and made the group give them everything they had, including their clothes. Before they left, they shot and killed Salva’s uncle. After is uncle dies, despite his sadness, he has a bigger determination to survive because of his uncle’s death. Slava arrives to the camp with refugees, when he thinks he sees his mother, so he goes after what he saw. Until eventually he realized that he was not going after his mother, it was some other women. Salva comes to a almost final conclusion that he might never find his family. It is 6 years later and Salva is still at the camp, until rumors start going around that it might soon close. Then some bad guys arrive and threaten for the people to leave the camp, so thats when they all run away and obey the bad guys who have weapons orders. Guns start firing as people hop into the nearest place to run to which was the river and a little boy actually saves Salva’s life. Salva now has to lead the remaining boys to Kenya where there are other refugee camps. It took them 1 year and a half to walk to Kenya.
