Historical fiction are stories based on real life historical events and set in a historical time and place. However, some characters may have never existed in that time BUT may be included to tell a better story. For example, in your history books, there may not be a record of actual dialogue, food eaten, clothes worn, routes travelled so you, as the author, will insert information that is thought to be historically accurate for the period.

In TERM ONE, you had done some research on the Japanese Occupation of Singapore yourselves. You can also use these videos to help you in your work. These videos are interviews with ordinary people who had lived through the war. The videos are mostly about the lack of food, atrocities during the occupation and general life in 1942-1945. Even though they mostly centre on food, you can imagine what kind of hardships they had.
