We are preparing them for education, have them ready for kindergarten and so on. This will give them an easier time for their grade teachers since they’ve already learned to have a routine. We are preparing them to create relationships, care and respect for others. Having routines are very important as they provide security in themselves, learning to be independent, have less anxiety and more confidence in themselves. Routines help them have better social skills and they will know about controlling themselves, making it easier to adapt to new challenges. Having a “day care baby” or a “favourite child” and helping them through every single step will not help the child build structure.

-Angel A.

Early childhood education prepares children for life and school by getting them to learn to be around other children at a young age. When the children attend daycare, they learn who is who from their community, which creates a sense of self and belonging by being around other children and adults. They learn to be independent, be respectful of their peers and teachers. Being taught by ECE at a young age is a great privilege, all the ECE work for the common good, to mould children into good human beings. ECE also teaches children to manage their emotions appropriately, it fosters emotional stability and resilience. When they’re taught in daycare, they’ll be better prepared for kindergarten. They’ll have learned routines by the time they start school.

-Lisa P.

we prepare the children for school by having similar routine like having indoor shoes, rotation of activities like snack, play time, crafts, playing outside. Teaching them to talk, potty training. Building relationships, caring for them, watching them grow up. They know most of the things like the ABCs, 123s and shapes.

Daycare teaches children to be prepared for life because they come either at a young age or start before going school. Us ECE workers teaches from routines. Like either learn how to listen during circle time or just simple basics. Learning how to potty, brushing after eating. We make sure everyone is doing well in daycare. Us ECE workers teaches from how to share or be nice to one another. Once they start going to school, they will know some parts of what to do in school. Especially socializing with others.

-Holly Kayuryuk

Getting up early morning to help with their sleeping schedule and healthy snacks/lunch for their health and growth. ECE helps a lot with school preparation. We have schedules and rules to follow, we treat with respect and love, that also teaches them to be kind to one another, teach them boundaries within themselves.

All domains involved, language, cognitive, emotional, social and physical development. It is taught by educators at the daycare centre.

Hattie A

I think ECE prepares for life and/or school because it helps confidence for them, teaches them a routine, helps them regulate their feelings, helps build respect for others and belongings around them and helps them. They’re more prepared cognitively in an elementary school setting also.
