They used the roads in many different ways but they mostly used it to deliver messages from one side of the empire to another it was a difficult job they had to be strong fit and good at memory they did it like a relay race . The messenger had to run over 260 miles a day.

Messengers were  called chasquis.  chasquis are strong and fit men and there job was hard because they had to memorize the message walk by feet and they could be gone for a long time if a chasqui sees another chasqui they will meet. chasquis Are usually sent by groups of 6 or 4 in the way they will find cabins so they can rest on them.

The chasquis (mailman) used to memorize messages and run to the destination of the message but they used to have stop poiont and turns running because some of the chasquis are in different location so you tell them the message they memorize it and run until they get tired and reach to another chasquis destination and tell them the message and the cycle goes on and on until the message has been delivered to the correct destination. they also had to be fit have strong legs and easily memorize things.

Because the Inca empire was huge, they built a network of roads so it can be easier for their people to get from place to place. Also they had messengers that had to travel for kilometers to send messages to the other people, so they needed roads so it can be easier for them to travel.
