The phases of water are solid, liquid, and gas. Liquid is most common, the water you drink today could have been part of a massive glacier 10,000 years ago. Water changes its phase. Liquid water turns into ice when it freezes at a temperature of 32 degrees F. Water turns into its gas form called steam when it reaches it's boiling point of 212 degrees F.

When water evaporates it transports from being surface water to being part of the atmosphere. Evaporation does not happen in one single type of body of water. Lakes, rivers, pond, and oceans all cam undergo evaporation. Since the oceans contain a lot of salt you would think that salt would be found in the atmosphere. But when water from the oceans evaporate, the salt stays and the water leaves.

Condensation- when water changes from gas to liquid. When water in the atmosphere comes closer together it forms clouds, because of the closely bonded atoms that make up water, water molecules are attracted strongly to each other.

The molecular makeup of water is H2O, two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom.

Precipitation occurs when the water in the clouds because so heavy that it eventually falls back to Earth in the form of rain, snow, etc.

Normally water falls as rain but if the Earths temperatures are below freezing, the water will fall as snow instead of rain.

Collection- this is the accumulation of water on Earth. After it rains, snows, or whatever the clouds want to do the water that collects on Earth forms into puddles, ponds, rivers, and some water drains back into the ocean.
