         <description><![CDATA[<div>Tectonic Plate are large pieces on top of the Earth that shift around. There are 7 major Tectonic Plates, but how do we know they exist? The idea of plate tectonics came from the idea of Continental Drift. Continental Drift believes that the Earth's continents are always moving. The Earth started with the supercontinent, Pangea, and it broke apart. This is how we got our existing continents.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Locating Plate Boundaries</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Convergent Boundaries: Convergent boundaries are found between oceanic-oceanic lithosphere, oceanic-continental lithosphere, and continental-continental lithosphere. The geologic features related to convergent boundaries vary depending on crust types.<br><br>Divergent Boundaries: Divergent boundaries are spreading boundaries, where new oceanic crust is created to fill in the space as the plates move apart. Most divergent boundaries are located along mid-ocean oceanic ridges (although some are on land).<br><br>Transform Boundaries: Transform boundaries are places where plates slide sideways past each other. At transform boundaries lithosphere is neither created nor destroyed. Many transform boundaries are found on the sea floor, where they connect segments of diverging mid-ocean ridges. California's San Andreas fault is a transform boundary.</div>]]></description>

         <title>What happens when the different types of plate boundaries occur?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Divergent Plate Boundaries (where two plates divide): When the magma underneath pushes the crust apart (the magma flow is kind of like two conveyor belts moving together, tearing the middle apart) and makes new crust. &nbsp;<br><br>Convergent Plate Boundaries (where two plates collide): when the plates collide, subduction can happen. This is when one of the colliding plates goes under the other plate, and makes a bump in the earth's crust. If neither of the plates go under, then they rise and make mountains.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<br><br>Transform Plate Boundaries (where two plates slide against each other): When plates slide against each other horizontally, and create a "fault," where the plates get stuck against each other. When the plates keep pulling and pulling, the pressure builds up, and when they finally pass each other, earthquakes happen. That is why when earthquakes happen, the stronger areas are on the edges of the plates, where the faults happen. </div>]]></description>
