Parol is a traditional Filipino Christmas decoration that symbolizes hope, faith and the warmth of the holiday season with its distinctive five-pointed star shape and sparkling lights. The ornament is inspired by the story of the Christmas star, representing the star of Bethlehem, which guides people to find light and hope. In the Philippines, parols are hung in every home on Christmas Eve, not only to add to the festive atmosphere, but also to show the spirit of unity and love.

My Parol design is inspired by the fusion of tradition and modernity. I chose to use eco-friendly materials such as recycled paper and bamboo to emphasize sustainability and natural beauty. In addition, I added delicate openwork carvings around the edges of the stars to symbolize the flow of light and the transmission of hope. The lighting uses warm-colored LEDs to create a warm and soft glow, symbolizing the warmth of family and the joy of reunion.

This Parol is not just a decorative piece, but also carries the stories and blessings of culture. Through it, I hope to spread love and hope, so that everyone who sees it can feel the miracle and warmth of Christmas.

I think this work is very beautiful. It is called parol, which is a kind of pendant. I like it very much because I made it myself. I feel very happy because after the work is completed, it is hung on the window and makes the classroom beautiful.

The reason why I paint like this is because everyone fills in the colors and it is very boring. I used a lot of lines to present this work. Although it is very monotonous, it can express my own style. Christmas must have hanging ornaments. The date of Christmas in each country is different. In Taiwan, it is December 25th, which is also the day when Jesus comes. Christmas is used to celebrate the birth of Jesus. The character in the middle of the work is illuminated by the whole world like Jesus. When making this work, I spent a lot of time drawing the lines and always kept drawing them crooked, but I still finished it.

When I was making this star, I found it difficult because it was originally flat. It was a bit difficult to fold it into a three-dimensional shape. I used Google's magic wand as a reference. The star inside symbolizes eternity. Its color design looks more like a combination of warm and cold colors. There is no sense of contradiction. Unfortunately, the stickiness is not three-dimensional and looks wrinkled. I learned color matching and how to make three-dimensional stars in this course.
