Something that was very interesting to me was learning about the various biases teachers may have in regards to handwriting. I also found it very interesting learning about how rote memorization is not the best method to spell (because that is how I learned!). I think it could be challenging for certain populations, but I think that overall if educators work closely and motivate students, it could be very fun for both parties.

I found it interesting that spelling and handwriting are big components in writing development. One thing that really stood out to me about spelling was that effective instruction includes more than just phonics and memory. I think handwriting and spelling can be challenging to teach while students are developing a strong foundation.

I found it interesting how spelling relates to students' academic success. I think teaching students handwriting and spelling can be both fun and challenging. I think that students will want to learn how to write, however, some may be hesitant to write if their handwriting is not legible.

One thing that I found interesting was how much handwriting can affect text production. Another thing that I found interesting about handwriting is how much teacher's perspective could affect student's handwriting whether it be based on their instruction or perception of the student's handwriting. Something that also stood out to me is how important spelling is when a student is learning to read.

I think it is interesting that there is a simple view of writing because we have previously learned about the simple view of reading. I think spelling will be fun to teach because there are many opportunities for spelling games or challenges.

I found it really impactful to learn that difficulties with spelling and handwriting can largely effect a student's ability to produce strong writing and I think they will be fun AND challenging to teach. Like most other contents, it is the responsibility of the educator to make the content as engaging as possible. I think the challenge will come in meeting the wide range of abilities for both.

I have not learned a lot about handwriting and spelling, but have seen it be taught in a few different ways and with many different tools for students with motor difficulties. I think teaching it can be both at times, but focusing on making it fun can make it easier for everybody involved.

1) I found it interesting how the type of script that students are taught does not have any research based proof to be more effective.
2) I believe that handwriting and spelling instruction will likely be difficult to teach because many times students find the work to be pointless and boring.

I think that teaching students handwriting/spelling can be fun and challenging in a productive and engaging way.
