Today I learned about Apartheid and how it affected a lot of South Africans. The South Africans weren't able to get an education and get jobs they were slaves that didn't have to do any labor. The Apartheid had left them with nothing and they couldn't even marry certain people.

What I thought was interesting today was how we learned about South African segregation and how it was just as bad as the Americans' segregation since they couldn't even get an education or jobs as well as that their segregation happened around the same times as ours.

I was very surprised that a African(South Africa) country had never had a African president, I also learned that the Anti-Apartheid lasted way longer then the American Civil Rights Movement and that black Africans weren't accepted in their own country.

By Joel: One thing I learned is that apartheid happened in South Africa that many people were involved in apartheid and that people protested for many years and then I learned that Nelson Mandela was a part of Apartheid.

Today i learned about Apartheid and that it was a unfair and racial system that affected many people in South Africa and treated them different from other people and they weren't able to get proper stuff. There was a protest against this that ended with the help of Nelson Mandela, he was able to end this when he became the first African president in South Africa. This system lasted from the 1950s until the early 1990s.

i noticed how apartheid and segregation were during the same time
