First of all, it is a bit mysterious. When you first read the title, you think to yourself, what happened during the "encounter." Did someone get hurt. Did someone get a compliment or, maybe they just became friends. But you never know until you read the book. One word titles also hook on a reader. It leaves you wanting more, even before you actually read it. Next, when you start to read the book, you realize that when the taino tribe meets the Europeans, it all seems fine, but the "encounter" seen from that little taino boy's perspective, he realizes that there is something going on that is wrong and sneaky. This "encounter" is about to change the taino culture forever.
