My name is Anya. I am one of those people that are afraid of the intermediate kids... I feel like they will eat me alive (haha). I think I would be happy in virtually any primary age classroom, except new entrants. 
Experience with children: I have worked with children of multiple ages in learning settings, such as running workshops, both educational and for fun. I am really looking forward to gaining classroom skills, such as classroom management and dialogue to engage the children.

I am a keen sports player, especially soccer and tennis. I have had experience coaching children between the ages of 5 and 12 at Balmacewen tennis club. I was also part of the student volunteer program last year through the university where I helped out doing the homework club at the corstophine community centre, which i thoroughly enjoyed. I also helped out doing the reading oasis program with kids at Carisbrook at the end of last year. I am big on feminism and equality between all people. :) 

My experience with children: Worked as a youth mentor for Rock Solid programme in Dunedin 2016-17. I was also a junior councillor for 11 year old children for a month summer camp 2014. Was the youth group leader of Leith Valley Church and of Easters Camp in Dunedin 2014-17. 

Preferred year group: Intermediates (but I say that because they are the only year group I have had experience with before. I think it will be interesting to try other year groups too to see what suits me [and them!] the best) 

P.S. I am in the process of getting a car- but at the moment am on the bus, so a far away placement is less preferred. 

P.P.S. My primary (Discovery 1) was an inquiry based learning school- so I have understanding and experience about alternative classrooms (or as we said- home bases!!) and schools. :-)

I grew up in Hawkes Bay but this year is my 10th year in Dunedin, so know a few tricks.
My parents and sister and Aunty are secondary school teachers. I have worked in after school care in Dunedin, as an alcohol and drugs youth mentor and as a mentor on Te TaiTimu trust kaupapa Maori water safety suicide prevention leadership camp and Na Kilo ‘Āina kids camp in Hawaii. 
I am pretty open minded about who to teach. Getting the whole community all ages involved would be cool. Probably imagine working with older kids in the end though. The year 7 time where they are in a new place new start could be a cool time to jump in and share!
