Working cultures vary significantly across different countries, each with its unique practices. One notable tradition that stands out is the after-work meal gatherings commonly referred to as “Hoesik” in South Korea. In general, “Hoesik” is a popular type of gathering in the society of South Korea, and refers to a group of people getting together to eat and drink. This is a well-established thing and it has evolved into a recognized subculture that plays an important role in fostering relationships within professional environments.

In the Korean corporate world, “Hoesik”, a longstanding tradition, typically takes place after work hours. However, many young South Koreans dread this kind of event. Despite young employees' growing displeasure with after-work dinners, many senior workers still believe such gatherings are necessary to build bonds with colleagues. From my perspective, I could see the point of view from both sides. Where both sides give a great argument, but I find that after-work culture should just be there for those who want to come and not be a must for everybody. In conclusion, this subculture should serve as a gathering place that is comfortable for both juniors and seniors, allowing it to evolve even further.
