Abillieen is so sad and depressed that something changes in her.
~ Mrs. Hilly told that whole town that Minny was stealing from their silverware drawer when she was not and among other things,, so Minny made her a pie with a special ingredient and watched Hilly eat it >:).
~ After the change Abillieen took a long time to finally confess about how crappy her life is but when she did, she told Miss. Minny say, "Rumor is you got some kind a power prayer, gets better results than just the regular variety."
"Say what?"
"Eudora Green, when she broke her hip, went on your list, up walking in a week. Isaiah fell off the cotton truck, on your prayer list that night, back to work the next day." (Stockett 23).
It stands for Abileen's hope for a better life.

The way things were and should not have been.

Basically Whites treated the African American people as diseases because of their color and they believed that they would catch it if they drank from the same water fountain, swam in the same pool, or even went to the same bathroom. This was a very prejudiced time for the African Americans, and they didn’t deserve all the loathe that they took from the whites, but even if they stood up for themselves the whites would beat them down because the whites believed they were superior even though they were showing the world that they really were the inferior one's.

Mrs. Celia
Minny gets a new job over at Mrs. Celia’s house, but there is something weird about how Mrs. Celia goes around. Like, she doesn't leave the house, she never cleans just shoves all of the clothes in her closet and under the bed, she doesn't know how to cook and wants the help to teach her. One of the weirdest things about Mrs. Celia is that she doesn't want her husband to know that she is getting help from someone, so she has Minny going around her husband's schedule so that they do not meet. It got so bad that she thought Mrs. Celia was afraid of the outside.

The Seed
Aibileen has a big heart for the children that she raised, instead of the white girls. She knows how to stay quiet and to leave the room before she is even told, she even knows what to say and what not to. But now that her son has died and she lost all the family that she had, something inside her, just like a little seed of spite, started to grow inside her. She no longer wants to just sit there and do everything the white people say or stand by and watch the children she raises get neglected by their real parents. No, one of these days she is just going to snap and let everything that she has been holding back, just go.
