For two years, he worked as a lecturer and professor of medicine and cell biology at the Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Michael Simons further served the university as chief of the cardiology section. For the last eight years, his efforts at the school have revolved around fundamental cardiovascular biology research as a leader in the Yale Cardiovascular Research Center. As a researcher, Dr. Simons and his teams have enjoyed success in areas of lymphatic vasculature development, molecular mechanisms of arteriogenesis, and the progression of atherosclerosis, among other subjects. His past research achievements include a Distinguished Scientist Award from the Chinese government and publication in venues, such as the Journal of Clinical Investigations and the medical journal, Circulation Research. Dr. Michael Simons is a cum laude graduate of the Yale University School of Medicine. Prior to joining the school as a professor and chief of cardiology, he spent seven years as the chief of cardiology at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
