The children and wives are left behind while men like me are sent to die in war. What will happen to my family? The stupid Americans having to get there way, they already have enough land, why are they taking ours? Having an idea shouldn't be enough to gain all that land! And the nerve they must have to make Texas a slave state, when we stated that we claimed the land. With this idea all over the place, Polk, The new elected president (1840) has made the manifest destiny a government policy. Finally with this idea Great Britain agreed to divide Oregon up which creates a border line between the U.S. and Canada that might last even in 2017!  

We have also got news that Texas is now a slave state which expanded slavery, but caused the Mexicans to get mad because they still claimed Texas as their own. This created a war, and to make matters worse America and Mexico were fighting over where the boundary between them should stand.

 The war caused arguments like, has slavery become an issue, and whether or not war was the right way. But in February 2, 1848 the war had ended and the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was created, where Mexico recognized Texas as part of America and Rio Grande as the Border.

The manifest destiny will guide the Americans to better and greater lands. Sure, all these wars lead to sorrow but they sure do lead to a better America.
