Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. My name is Hani Sufia Hasnul, and I am currently a law student at IIUM. Alhamdulillah, I feel very blessed to be part of this usrah because I believe it’s not just a program, but a journey for us to remind each other of Allah, to strengthen our faith, and to build ukhuwah among ourselves.

A little bit about me, I enjoy learning new things, especially when it comes to personal growth and understanding more about Islam in our daily lives. Outside of studies, I’m also active in sports like volleyball and swimming, and I love joining volunteering programs where I can contribute, even in small ways, to the community. These activities really shape me as a person and help me balance between academic life and personal development.

I joined usrah because I want to become closer to Allah and surround myself with good company that encourages me to improve day by day. InshaAllah, through this usrah, I hope to gain more knowledge, strengthen my relationship with Allah, and at the same time, build meaningful bonds with all of you. May Allah grant us sincerity in our intentions and bless our journey together.

One of the ways I try to improve myself is by maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I go to the gym regularly and stay active through sports like volleyball and swimming. I see this as part of my amanah from Allah, because taking care of our body helps us to stay strong, disciplined, and better prepared to worship Him. Apart from that, I also find inspiration through listening to Maher Zain’s music. His nasheeds remind me of gratitude, patience, and remembering Allah in every situation. They really help me to calm my mind, especially when I feel stressed or tired, and they motivate me to keep striving to be a better person

My first usrah session was a very positive and refreshing experience. I managed to get to know new friends, learn about each other’s backgrounds, and start building ukhuwah in a comfortable environment. The group activities made the session more engaging, and playing Two Truths and One Lie allowed us to laugh, share interesting stories, and break the ice in a fun way. I feel that this usrah is not only about learning, but also about creating bonds and supporting one another in our journey to become better Muslims. InshaAllah, I hope the next sessions will continue to strengthen our connection with Allah and also with each other, making this usrah a meaningful part of my university life.

5 Daily Prayers 💕

I learned about the pillars of prayer (rukun solat), which reminded me of how important it is to understand and perfect our solat, since it is the foundation of our deen. Sometimes we perform solat out of habit, but revisiting the rukun helps me to reflect on whether I’m truly focusing and fulfilling each part correctly. It made me realize that even small mistakes in our solat can affect its validity, so this reminder is really valuable for me.

Besides that, we also listened to a short 2-minute talk, which was simple yet impactful. Even though it was short, the message was meaningful and made me think about how even a little reminder can touch the heart and bring us closer to Allah.

Overall, this session strengthened my understanding of solat and reminded me that knowledge doesn’t always have to be long to be beneficial sometimes, even the smallest reminders can have the biggest impact.

In this usrah session, we focused on the benefits of salah, and it was a beautiful reminder of how solat is not just an obligation, but also a gift from Allah to us. Salah gives us peace of mind, calms the heart, and helps us stay connected to Allah no matter what we are going through. It is also a way to discipline ourselves with time, since praying five times a day trains us to be more organized and mindful of our daily routine.

I also realized that salah strengthens both our spiritual and emotional health. Whenever I feel stressed or overwhelmed, solat becomes a moment where I can pause, let go of my worries, and place my trust in Allah. It is truly a source of strength and comfort that keeps us grounded.

we learned about the benefits of fasting, and it reminded me that fasting is not only about staying away from food and drink, but also about purifying the heart and strengthening our self-control. Fasting trains us to be more disciplined, to guard our tongue, and to control our desires. It teaches patience and helps us develop empathy towards those who are less fortunate, since we get to feel even a small part of what they go through daily.

Fasting also brings so many spiritual benefits. It brings us closer to Allah, increases our taqwa, and makes us more grateful for His blessings. It is a time where we can reflect on our actions, improve our relationship with the Qur’an, and cleanse ourselves from sins. Beyond the spiritual side, fasting also gives health benefits, like giving rest to our body and improving our physical well-being.

In this usrah session, we gathered into our groups and discussed our upcoming roleplay. It was a lively and interactive discussion, as everyone shared ideas and suggestions. We wanted to create something meaningful but also enjoyable, so after brainstorming together, we decided that our roleplay would be done in the form of acting.

I really enjoyed the teamwork during this session because it gave us a chance to listen to each other’s creativity and strengthen our bond as a group. Planning the roleplay made me feel excited, since it is not only about presenting knowledge, but also about delivering it in a way that can be engaging and memorable for everyone.

For our final usrah session, we had to present our roleplay about the importance of being humble. My role was to act as the “villain,” Syasya, who was arrogant and full of herself. At first, Syasya looked down on others and refused to show humility. But in the end, she regretted her behavior and realized the value of being humble. Acting in this role made me reflect on how dangerous arrogance can be, and how important it is for us as Muslims to always practice humility in our daily lives.

After the roleplay, we had a small potluck where everyone brought food to share. Even though I was in a rush that day, I still managed to grab a delicious crème brûlée before leaving! The food, laughter, and togetherness made the session feel so warm and memorable.

Overall, this last usrah session was a beautiful way to wrap up our journey together. It combined lessons, creativity, fun, and ukhuwah. InshaAllah, I will carry the reminder about humility with me, and I’m grateful for all the moments we shared throughout these usrah sessions.
