The process allows to protect human subjects in the research. 

Importance of these implemented document is enormous. It allows to bring back the mental state of participants back to before the experiment. Milgram obedience experiment is perfect case of significance of debriefing. 

I, personally, would not enter any research experiment as a human subject without having a contract with clause of explaining the purpose of the experiment and some details. No ethical approach was used in these experiments. It allowed for wave of laws and regulations to be passed in international regulatory bodies and inside countries as well.

How far do research subjects are willing to go against their believes in order to obey authorities. Experiments did not harm participants physically, but emotionally and mentally. Milgram experiments will move authorities to make laws to protect human research subjects.
