The Soviet Union and the U.S. were racing to get into space. Russia had been in the lead after the first U.S. man walked on the moon. In the end the U.S. won the race to the moon when Neil Armstrong landed on the moon. He was also the first person to walk on the moon. His famous saying was “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”

This was an open conflict, because Russia and the U.S. were not fighting or having a ongoing battle. They were trying to be the first one on the moon. This is not if the other gets on first we will attack it was a race to be the first there was no war or battle going on.

3. Determine if this affected the soceial, economic, military and political conflicts during the Cold War.

This affected the social, economic, and political conflicts during the cold war. This affected these because socially and politically people would be mad that their country, because they could not be first in their race to the moon. It would also be economically, because they did not have the resources to get to the moon first. This caused conflict between Russia.

It is denied by saying it is a fair world, but it is not because one country made it to the moon before the other did.
