Listening Skills

First of all, we started to talk about the problem, causes and solution. I really liked this planned base studying. We continued with the authentic and course book material. We discussed about their pros and cons. It was helpful for me. The onion ring activity was interesting. It was the first time, I have seen this activity. I would like to use it in my classes with the students and as a facilitator with teachers since the onion ring is funny. Everyone can feel involved, relax and effective while doing the activity. Moreover I liked discussing about the listening problems and categorising them. We used venn diagram while doing the activity. It was nice to see the common points. I have learned from my group and the trainer some parts. For example planning decisions are the most important part. Adjusting and adding the listening page( it is from a course book) was useful. We added survey for pre listening part and I noticed the importance of differentiation for weaker and stronger ones. Finally I have learned how to use ICQs and the most important part was the giving instructions. In class I was saying everything at a time, so the student were asking a lotus of questions related to the activity. We were losing time with the instructions. I noticed that the instructions must be step by step. We can demonstrate them instead of speaking.

Speaking

Before, while and after speaking activities are really effective to use in my classes and my PDCs. I prefer the delay error correction. We have spoken about this. I revise the importance of monitoring the students but don't interrupt. I want to use flip app. I liked it so much. I love being with technology. I would like to try new web2 tools, so I liked using flip. I care about the differentiation. I can find a lot of ideas for my weaker or stronger students. We watched videos. We used the jig saw technique to save time. Moreover, we could talk about the videos, discuss and give information the other group members. It was really nice. We don't need to watch all the videos, but we get the idea with the help of the good technique. I would like to use jig saw activities in my classes. Giving instructions part was really important. I took notes about it. Low tech and non tech alternatives poster preparations are enjoyable. We have found lots of alternatives. I liked all the posters and ideas. I would like to adapt öne part related to the speaking video. There was a repetition activity in the video the students would speak about the same thing 4 min. Later 3 min. At Last 2 min. We can use the onion ring technique here. And the minutes can go on 2min, 3min and 4 min. As they speak they can add something more. By the way as they speak they can feel tired, so it can stay the same. I will try it.

Today's part was too long. I liked the fiding outcomes part. We have found the most Boeing part from the course book. We have differentiated and adjusted it. Giving time was a bit long for me. We worked with my shoulder partner we have found pre, post and during activities. When we think we did our best. Our group members checked the plan and changed some parts. I was impressed because they put the treasure hunt activity in the beginning part. I really liked the idea. We adjusted their reading plan. We are adding, progressing and kearning from each other. It feels me good. I adviced them 3 things you know 3 things you want to know as a pre reading activity. For while reading activity we prefered jig saw reading. And for post activities we can focus on speking activities like discussion. I liked this plan. I find it useful abd practical.

You change our places because we can meet with everone in class. When we work for our micros, it can be helpful. You can decide the micro groups by watching us when we work with different people. If i sit front everyday, the friends sitting back can not see the board. It won't be fair if we don't change the seating position. It is helpful for our speaking skill. Everyday we have to speak with different person.

In my local context, I can use whatever I want. Because I work in Çardak, Denizli. We have a good internet connection, enough technological devices to use as a group and willing students. And most of the teachers like learning and trying new things. So I am lucky fır my PDCs. If we speak about today's topic, i like writing so much. I like the warm up activity, i am really enthusiastic about using the new writing story with the 7 words written on small papers as a snack writing. It was so impressive. Güzin abla (in Turkish we say like this) activity i mean Agony Aunt Letters was nice too. I liked and learned by giving advices and reading my colleagues advices and choosing the favourite idea was interesting. I like classification activities, so i found useful to group the ideas as product, process and snack. The snack öne was favourite. As a group we worked on the postcard writing activity. We discussed, differentiated and made it digital and collaborative. It was so precious for me.

I would like to start with the outcomes.
The Ls will be able to acquire the idea of explicit and impilicit grammar instruction.
The Ls will be able to differentiate and create the vocabulary activities to teach the new words.
Using vocabulary notebook with pictures can be a good source for the ss. They can prepare a word box with the pictures and phrases. They can play the matching game to revise the words. We can use videos with songs and while watching the video the ss can see the new words and phrases. Moreover, by using the Web2 tools and education games they can learn the new words. In class They can prepare a poster we can stick in on the wall, the ss can see the new words till the unit ends. If the see the new words in different contexts and if they use the new words with different skills, they can make new words their own.
For grammar i don't teach or test it. I say the meaning of the grammar sturucture. I behave the grammar topic like vocabulary. I use the same activities to teach grammar. I like the way of expilicit grammar teaching.

I am not sure by saying network using WhatsApp group or something like this for our PDC. If so, it is useful. We can get the needed instructions and sharings easily. I can share everything easily.
For self and peer assessment in Denizli we don't have local problems. We can use these kind of assessments with our colleagues and with our students. We can prepare the self or peer assessment charts together with our colleagues. We can discuss and solve the problems together. Sharing is learning. 😉
