As an ESOL teacher, I strive to make sure that I stay communicating with my student's parents. At times that can be difficult because there is a language barrier. The great thing is that technology has become so advanced that now I can communicate with these parents and they can feel comfortable communicating with me. Below I have added a link to a blog explaining Google Voice. This tool can be used to help teachers communicate with parents that speak a language other then English. Check it out!

Often times, teachers assume that ELL student's parents don't care about their child's eduction. This is a misconception. Often times the parents just don't know how to communicate with their child's teacher. As educators, we need to take the time to share tools that can help these parents communicate and we need to reach out to them. Class Dojo has always been a tool parents find helpful, they can translate the message or post a teacher has sent out.
