I was planning to make star, planet, galaxy theme to my map. Basing my map on star maps.

I’m on the fence on doing a fountain or pocket watch structure. I was debating on doing it landscape or portrait for. I’m leaning more towards portrait to make sure it fits on the paper. For now I am thinking of using color pencils because they seem to be less time consuming. As for my Key, I also placed where that would go and the comps rose so all the space is used. For now I have yet to outline what it it’ll look like complete but I really am wanting it to have a cosmos space vibe to it.

Above is a rough draft of what I was thinking originally with all the key elements incorporated. It’s not finalized or anything, so for now I’ll do my best to make sure on where everything will go on a separate paper. A lot pf practice will need to be done before I am confident to use the actual bigger paper, pencil will be important.

I decided to go with the yin and yang cat island. both cats will be based off my own two cats Maze & Maokai.

Added small islands around the main island and a river to symbolize my relationship and marriage.

added and island in the corner that will represent my childhood. The monster in the corner is called Baron Nashor, its from League of Legends. I included it to represent my mental health demons that I battled in high school and 19-23yrs old. Still working on legend and compass rose

This is the final sketch of my map, scaled down for reference. It outlines the general layout and composition that will be reflected in the final version. All the key elements are in place, but they are drawn smaller to give an overall view of how the map will come together. In this stage, the paper is still mostly white, as my initial drawings are very light and subtle. I intentionally kept the lines faint so I can trace and refine them on the paper. This allows me to make adjustments easily without committing to heavy lines too early in the process.

Colorful map I have started, the map layout is based on my initials, I added the compass in the corner. The object I've chosen were, palm trees to showcase the california state I lived in, a pan with eggs for cooking, A wii console to show I enjoyed video games, a home that represents my house, Kentucky state to show my trip, a cross to show I went to church, my middle school logo, and mountains to show my challenges. The uncolored land I put in the corner will be my "legends island" to show case every item I put into my project.

I didnt have a big enough table to have both of the pieces on it at once so there is a bit of change between the papers.

I knew I wanted to make my map out of fabric. I made it out of scrap muslin from my fabric stash. I wanted my compass rose in the center and worked from there. I also knew I wanted those lines you see in old maps so I marked those down.

I didn't have much of a plan going into this. I just planned out a space for different areas and filled it in with different details.

I was inspired by Ziran's map to outline areas of my map with blue instead of filling the whole space with blue. I think it brings more focus to the areas and it also made areas easier to paint which was helpful.

I had barely any rhyme or reason for the colors. My general rule for myself was darker colors would be used to represent darker times and happier elements would either be green to contrast the dark colors or would just be full rainbow if I felt like it. I mean, why limit yourself
