Encouragement is a strategy that can be used to increase a child's self-esteem. This can be to motivate the child to do something they are already good at, or something new that they may be either good or bad at. This is beneficial as it will influence the child to be outgoing and to have faith in oneself. For example, if there are soccer tryouts, you should inspire your child to go with words such as "You can do it!" or "You got this!".

Respect is another strategy that can be used to influence a child's self esteem. This can be to regard one's child with consideration and appreciation. Respect is beneficial as it will cause the child to know and understand their worth, while teaching them to respect others and earn others' respect. For example, if a child wants to go out with friends, you can respect them and say no while explaining why—all in a calm tone.

Trust is one of the key strategies in improving a child's self-esteem. This can be in relation to providing them with responsibilities and having faith in them. Trust is beneficial as it will prevent the cild from hiding secrets and going behind your back, even for unnecessary things. Additionally, they will trust themselves. For example, if a child comes home, you as a parent should trust them to get all their work done in a timely fashion instead of badgering them.
