"Susan Falls was in a uniquely dreadful set of circumstances and because of the specific threats which she faced she was entitled to use lethal force to protect herself and her family" 

Mr Hunter said when the Centrelink funds went into Mrs Falls’ account, Mr Falls used her card and PIN to withdraw the cash. 

He said Centrelink were only prosecuting Mrs Falls over about $38,000 in overpayments, but she had chosen to repay the full amount of $78,284 using funds she earned for magazine and TV interviews in the wake of her acquittal. 

 She believed that her son was a nice man and had doubts about Susan’s claims to the abuse. she had lived with him for 15 years and never had a doubt that he was going to be abusive. She was against the outcome

Mother that claims against her son are not true as he always had good morals and a good working ethic 

"As the case progressed, more and more witnesses would come forward and give evidence about what they'd seen or heard. It certainly verified her version." 

"[In Mrs Falls' case] the threat involved other people. She may be able to make herself safe, but could she make her children safe, her mother and father and her sister and her sister's family?" 

She believes that Susan couldn't escape the trauma she went through and that she wanted to protect her family.

"I think (the Falls verdict) is a message to all battered women and victims of serious domestic violence that there is justice in the legal system," she said.
