Further looks into their fossils showed they had a difference in the upper femur which shows they probably walked and climbed trees. They are a little smaller than humans the size of a chimpanzee and also had similar teeth.

They were discovered in the Tugen Hills region of central Kenya. Their name Orrorin tugenensis, which in the local language means “original man in the Tugen region.”
