This is where she meets Augustus Waters and after a while she begins to develop feelings for the boy and as does he for her. He then reads a book a book that she recommends and she reads one that he does. After reading the book she recommended, Augustus has thoughts regarding the fact that the book doesn't properly end so he emails the author with questions and when his assistant responds Hazel-Grace and Augustus plan to go and see him. But due to the cost Hazel-Grace uses her death wish to get the money to go see him. So Augustus goes with her mum and her to Amsterdam and stays in a hotel. They then go and see the author who turns out to be a fraud and someone who doesn't even care about the words he wrote. Angry, Hazel-Grace leaves, but Augustus doesn't let that ruin there holiday and they have a nice time together and then go home. But when they do Augustus falls ill which is unexpected due to the fact that everyone thought he was healthy and then he dies. The author then comes to see Hazel-Grace and gives her a letter than Augustus had the author rewrite for him to give to her. But unfortunately she used her wish to go to Disney land and also the family doesnt have the money to fly her over, due to the cost of the medicines that hazel needs.
