In the article Kazue Togasaki fought against sexism and racism to become one of the first Japanese American women to earn a medical degree in the US. During that time it was hard for her to find work because in San Francisco they said they didn't use Japanese nurses. In 1942 she was sent to Tanforan Assembly Center where she was asked to set up medical services and to lead which is where she handled everything from care to vaccinations to birth and for her first month she delivered 50 babies. So if I learned anything it's that our race factors a lot in our identity, but that shouldn't stop us from reaching our goal.
