The song I chosen was Alone- Burna boy, this song allows me to touch with my younger self with the lyrics. The lyrics speak volumes, and that’s why I had chose this song aswell as some of the movements chosen.

I will be taking videos every other day with freestyle movements. I do want a freestyle moment within my piece and in order for me to deliver properly, I will practice my freestyle to ensure on the day of filming I’ll get a good take and won’t stress my self out whilst doing so. Freestyle will represent my freeness throughout my adulthood. Normally, I do struggle with freestyle as I’m not a freestyle dancer, so this took time to get out of my comfort zone and enjoy the process of this module. From going from not so much freedom within dance, to then understanding on a level who I am and what I can do. I feel it’s important to add stuff into my piece that im not familiar with as this shows a certain level of growth.

I have never really done krump so that’s also another reason why I wanted to explore this style whilst doing this module, I’ve done a few krump classes but I feel like doing this style will allow me to really interpret the message I want to get across.

My contemporary within this piece was going to just be freestyle to see how well I can connect my emotions to my movements on the spot to show true intention as well as premeditated choreography for this. It was important for me to show my character through emotions rather than just movement.

Contemporary through this made me feel light and well collected, I enjoyed exploring options through contemporary because this isn’t my first style of classes so being able to choose styles I’m not fluent in gave me a chance to show out to myself aswell as just making a piece for this module.

ALONE -

This peice I am wanting to create is to show my journey from my younger age to my current age ( my journey through life and dance) I thought this would be a good topic to express myself through as normally I would have picked a commercial song to do it to. I wanted there to be a message through my dance so that I could get a clear message across to how everyone’s life is different. I wanted the scenery to start off in my room, watching videos of older people in studios wanting to be like them so i would copy every movement. It then will get on to later on, and I would video myself trying to pick up basic steps. I wanted to choose a good atmosphere that would make sense within my videos to get the message portrayed how I wanted it to. I want to explore different scenery after the introduction such as A forest, A canteen, A school, dance studios.

Because I didn’t come from a contemporary back ground , I had only done a few classes in it due to being in uni, I wanted to understand how to love contemporary and use it even when there is empty space within the music, this really helped me to understand it more

Jazz funk and commercial , I already have training in this style so I was able to make choreography in this style easily . When it comes to commercial , I can make choreography under pressure in this style but I decided to make this choreography a few weeks before my module was due so that it would be perfect for my submission.

Whilst creating for this module I realised that I had wanted to change my topic on my brief. The reason for this being is because I feel like a lot of people would have surrounded their topic on something like this and I wanted to try be different. A lot of ideas came up into my mind such as jazz in the 90s soul trains or just straight up jazz but then I realise I don’t really have enough training in just to pursue that as the topic of my module so what came to mind was the art of movement ( blossoming from a young age with exploring stylistic features)

I had realised that changing the topic of my module would benefit me more as I picked a song that I knew I would enjoy and because I feel like I need to explore in more freestyle and range of movements although some moments in the video it was freestyle I did make up certain motifsto surround and base my movements off. Some movements was repeated to show that I still have the same person and others was different to also show various stylistic features.

I chose mantra by Troy boy as I had listened to this song in the past quite a few times and I knew this would fit my cog fit in this module in the way I wanted to because it has so many options such as the rhythm the beats, the different basis and the different snares

Doing this allowed me to be more free in movement and show the audience that exploring different range movements to a song that you wouldn’t really dance to gives you more freedom than you think
