Schools should be preparing students for careers or higher education. Schools are there to prepare students by giving them a solid foundation of knowledge that they can build on. This can also help students understand what they want to do and learn more about. Schools are meant to help students and be there to guide them through life.

Schools should be used to prepare students for their futures. Preparation should not just be for academics, but for social issues, professionalism, and other "adult" topics that people need to learn. Personally I would've loved to learn stuff like how to do taxes in school. Students should also be prepared for the future of their education and the career they want to pursue.

Schools should be used to show students how to learn, provide them with the necessary information to succeed in life, socialize them, and teach them how to think and do for themselves. Students vary so greatly, that it is impossible to send them down the same path. By ensuring that schools meet these goals, students learn to be individuals and can set themselves on whatever path they want, effectively.

Schools should be a safe environment utilized to prepare students for their futures - whether that is the workforce, military, or higher education. I think schools, especially in rural and low-income populations, could use financial resources to hire better qualified educators, update their resources, and offering more courses for students to personalize their pathways (i.e., electives, AP, etc.) Students should overall learn a generalized education that puts everyone on the same playing field upon graduation so everyone can exalt and have access to the same resources.

Schools should support the personal and academic growth of all of their students. They should be a safe environment overall, versatile in terms of whether it is preparing students for work straight after graduation or college. The curriculum should meet the needs of every student.

I feel like historically schools were used as devices for creating cultural homogeny. However, I think the goal of education is educating the students the basics of reading, writing, and math. From there schools should attempt to be a central location of broadening students horizons to the various cultures and opportunities present in our communities and moving in the direction of preparing students for life outside of academics. What I mean by that is promoting and giving students access to home economic type classes (cooking, filing taxes, general life skills) and general electives that introduce students to a variety of fields outside of higher education plans.

Schools should ultimately want to accomplish the goal of preparing their students for what knowledge they will need out in the world as they grow older. Schools should make sure students are confident, knowledgable, and equipped with fundamentals. The years that children are in school are some of the most formative of their lives, so they should be in a school setting that can help them form into the best versions of themselves.

Schools should be striving to prepare students for the real world. Student need to know at least what they will face and not go in blind. Schools could focus on informing students of the systems that currently exist and what others have tried in that aspect. Set students up to want to succeed, not to give up on their dreams. Teachers should be there to assist and support. When students leave school, they should know where to look and when to ask questions. They do not need to know everything just where to ask.

Schools should be a safe environment where students are prepared for their futures. Schools should give students an equal opportunity to succeed regardless of their race, culture, or gender. More than teaching the basics (reading. writing, and math), schools are meant to teach life skills such as accountability, time-management, the ability to self-assess, as well as future necessities such as financial education (how to manage money, filling your taxes, the importance of credit scores...), as well as day-to-day self-sufficiency (how to cook, organization skills, basic maintenance...). Schools should also help students improve their social skills. Schools should provide a well-rounded education for all students and help them become their better selves.

The goals of education should be able to prepare students for the world they are entering. This should include the discussion of more uncomfortable topics like correcting white washed history and traditions in America public schools. Education should strive to do what is necessary to better society in the future to be more fair, accessible, and representative of ANY race or culture. Students should be able to not only learn the foundational knowledge that they need for their future profession, but also how to be a respectable member of a more progressive society. This includes time being spent discussing behavior, mental health, anti-racism, and other life lessons and skills that all outside of the limits of standard curriculum.
