Creating a an envrioment where people aren't "Punished" for being wrong but instead can answer and get a question. Also showing that you just don't know everything is also a great way to do it.  Just a supportive and relaxed learning enviroment. Taking insparation from "Yes. And" in improv

Are there any practical things you think we can do as media educators?

Actively sending them open ended creative questions and answers. Making short films and stuff.  Such as with a simple "five by five" 

Or giving a "Make a script about a journey" or something like that

Having the willingness to talk to them about subjects they're passionate about and to comment on their work with a compliment sandwich... We should be able to teach practical use of software and hardware, so we need to know what we're working with.
