Walt was an American poet, essayist, and journalist. He attended a public school in Brooklyn, and he got his first job and started working at twelve years old. An interesting fact about Walt was that he didn't believe that Shakespeare wrote his plays. Whitman has always been considered the father of free verse poetry. Whitman's work really gained notice and attention from people around the late 1860's.

Allen, Gay Wilson, and Jeffares, Alexander Norman. "Walt Whitman".

The piece of literature I chose was An Amish Year. I chose this because I wanted to read and learn about someone different than me. I wanted to learn about other people's perspective of life. This book is about what Amish people do during a year, and the book is told from the perspective of a little Amish girl. I chose this book, because it is important to learn about how different we all are as people.
