The island of Stromboli was created by a series of eruptions of potassium-rich basalt and basaltic andesite lavas. It started erupting 200,000 years ago and formed the Strombolicchio volcano. There a 3 active craters on top of it and it’s last major eruption was on 13 April 2009. It’s said that one person died during the last eruption. Only on 19 may 2021 both my Edna and Stromboli erupted but wasn’t as fatal as before.
