Desk cleaning between classes at BSD Secondary Schools:

                                                    i.     CDC has always stated soap and water is sufficient and effective. 

                                                   ii.     The spray bottles have not yet arrived, so we may need to use Purell surface sanitizer wipes between classes a few days next week.  We will keep you apprised as to when we will begin this new cleaning procedure. For now, continue to use Purell wipes between classes as we did before Spring Break.  

On Monday (House A) and Thursday (House B) we are asking that all teachers again share important TMS Safety Procedures/Mitigating Measures with students in periods 1-4.  The following schedule has been developed and links to each period’s PPT can be found HERE.

In accordance with section 12 of the most recent MOU, the Safety & Health Conditions Review Team is looking for volunteers from the following constituency groups to join the team: 

 

For reference, the SHCRT meets every Wednesday from 2:30 – 3:00 p.m.  Additionally, we are hoping to add team members who might have the following perspectives to help ensure the SHCRT is reflective of diverse community experiences and viewpoints:

Most will be able to complete this work onsite without undue hardship. The intent is to provide flexibility in response to real challenges and hardships. Though this list is not intended to be inclusive of every potential scenario, here are some examples:

Convenience is not a very strong example. Wanting to get home for lunch is not a very strong example. Avoiding traffic is not a very strong example. 

 

Please be mindful of the following supervision needs related to arrival, passing periods, and dismissal.  Thank you your help and support – it takes all of us!

Virtual Teachers – The Connection Time can take the majority of the Time.   I suggest using breakout groups in Teams and strongly encourage students to turn on cameras.    You may find that the groups will want to choose a collective answer to share as a whole class.    Perhaps divide the class in two for two separate community times .. may help students feel comfortable turning on the camera???

 | 10:45 – 10:55 | Review 20-21 TMS Evacuation (Fire) Drill with students (attached)  Important Reminders: Take your orange emergency bucket which contains your red/green teacher name card. For drills this week, you’ll use your 1^st period attendance roster, located in your classroom emergency bucket (GSAs are delivering rosters to your classroom today & tomorrow to be placed in your bucket).  Please e-mail Christina/Molly if you do not see an emergency bucket in your classroom. Leave your lights on and your doors unlocked.  We want people to be able to get in quickly if there are students or staff trapped in the building.   Assign a responsible student to lead the students to the field. Teachers should bring up the rear of the line, ensuring all students in your class remain together. All students need to be facing the middle of the field. Classes will leave 6’ spaces in between each student as per the line-up map. The student closest to the middle of the field will hold their class’s red/green sign. (see map) All staff should report to their assigned location designated by the evacuation map (see attached).  This provision applies to teachers who do not have a class during an evacuation drill.  Please report to your assigned area so that we can document all staff made if safely out of the building. 
| 10:55 – 11:20 | Evacuation (Fire) Drill:  Please be sure to carefully review the attached 20-21 Evacuation Procedure; as due to physical distancing realities, the procedure is different than it has been the past few years.  Students will not line up with their 2^nd period teacher.  Instead, they will line up with the teacher of the class they are in at the time.  If the fire-alarm was to go off during a passing period, students would report to the line spot of their next period teacher.  Each teacher has been assigned a line spot via football field yard marker visuals (every five yards) on the east and west side of the field.  This adjustment is to ensure students do not cluster/line-up at classroom doors upon re-entering the building and avoids the need for students to walk through the field looking for their 2^nd period teacher.  Classroom teachers will walk students out to the field and back into the building upon dismissal in a controlled manner.  Please contact Chris/Christina with any questions.

You can make changes to ABS and PRC codes in Synergy. For example, if you see a student marked PRC and they are physically in front of you, mark them present. If you see a student marked PRC and they are not online, mark them ABS.
