         <description><![CDATA[<div>Central office staff informed us of a change to the district desk cleaning procedure between class periods.&nbsp; The new procedure will be as follows:</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Desk cleaning between classes at BSD Secondary Schools:</div><ol><li>Students will use soap and water (3a Neutral Cleaner) to spray and wipe desks during the last five minutes of each period (per the MOU).&nbsp; The CDC has established that soap is an effective cleaner against Covid-19.&nbsp; Cleaning surfaces with approved soaps has been found to be the most effective cleaning agent.&nbsp; As an additional layer of protection in our classrooms, the last class period of the day will also sanitize desks with Purell wipes. The intent is to provide flexibility in response to real challenges and hardships.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Attendance-taking expectations are changing because of the return of students to in-person learning.&nbsp; It is important to have an accurate picture of those present in the building for health attestation,&nbsp; contract tracing, and emergency response purposes.&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div><ul><li><strong>Attendance must be taken for in-person students during the first 10 minutes of class in Periods 1 and 5</strong> and is encouraged to be taken during the first 10 minutes of class for all other Periods.</li><li>If attendance for concurrent/online students is not taken during the first 10 minutes of class, the teacher may input the attendance after class but <strong>no later than 1:00 PM</strong>; for example if a teacher needs to download a Teams Attendance report.</li><li>Teachers should create seating charts for the students in House A, House B, and Online. &nbsp;<ul><li><em>There are instructions in the </em><a href="https://bsd405.sharepoint.com/HowTo/Technology/SitePages/Synergy/Synergy.aspx"><em>Synergy How To's</em></a><em> under the </em><a href="https://bsd405.sharepoint.com/HowTo/Technology/SitePages/Synergy/Restricted%20to%20Staff/Synergy%20TeacherVUE%20for%20Elementary%20Teachers.aspx"><em>Elementary Teachers</em></a><em> area called Click Sheets - Seating Charts.&nbsp; In addition </em><a href="https://bsd405.sharepoint.com/HowTo/Technology/Shared%20Documents/Forms/AllItems.aspx?id=%2FHowTo%2FTechnology%2FShared%20Documents%2FSynergy%2FRestricted%20to%20Staff%2F3.4%20Synergy%20Modifying%20Seating%20Charts%202020-21.pdf&amp;parent=%2FHowTo%2FTechnology%2FShared%20Documents%2FSynergy%2FRestricted%20to%20Staff"><em>3.4 Modifying Seating Charts</em></a><em> may help.&nbsp;</em></li></ul></li><li>For ease in determining who should be present in the classroom, teachers should use separate seating charts for attendance taking.&nbsp;</li><li>The following attendance codes are available to teachers:<ul><li>ABS – students that are absent (in-person/concurrent/virtual)&nbsp;</li><li>TE – excused tardy&nbsp;</li><li>TU – unexcused tardy&nbsp;</li><li>PRC – Present but remote – <strong>To be used if a student is absent from in-person class but you know they are attending remotely.&nbsp; This code will remove them from the attestation requirement but will indicate they were present in class.</strong></li></ul></li><li><strong>Important Change:</strong> Attendance for online/concurrent students should be based on digital presence rather than engagement or participation to be consistent with how attendance is taken for in-person students.&nbsp; With the return of in-person schooling, the waiver of truancy absences is no longer valid. Thus it is important to only be using attendance to indicate presence to avoid unwarranted truancy filings.&nbsp; Truancy filings can have legal ramifications for families. This means that if a student is logged into a Teams meeting remotely/concurrently, regardless of whether or not they ‘engage’ digitally (our standard previously), they are to be marked present.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Please review the plan for Community Time, Tuesday/Friday 10:45 – 11:40:&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;| <strong>10:45 – 10:55</strong> | <strong>Review 20-21 TMS Evacuation (Fire) Drill with students (attached)</strong>&nbsp; <strong>Important Reminders: </strong>Take your orange emergency bucket which contains your red/green teacher name card. For drills this week, you’ll use your 1<sup>st</sup> period attendance roster, located in your classroom emergency bucket (GSAs are delivering rosters to your classroom today &amp; tomorrow to be placed in your bucket).&nbsp; Please e-mail Christina/Molly if you do not see an emergency bucket in your classroom. Leave your lights on and your doors unlocked.&nbsp; We want people to be able to get in quickly if there are students or staff trapped in the building. &nbsp; Assign a responsible student to lead the students to the field. Teachers should bring up the rear of the line, ensuring all students in your class remain together. All students need to be facing the middle of the field.
