         <description><![CDATA[<div>Say:P. 51 Think about ways that you personally can demonstrate a love of reading<br>Mean: Developing a love of reading is one of the primary goals of RUOS.  It is important that this is modeled from the top down.<br>So: We should find ways to do this.  Book shares on morning announcements, what I'm reading outside our doors...<br><br>Say: P. 57 shares ways to systematically check in on the volume of writing that is occuring in our classrooms.<br>Mean: This is that trust, but verify element of leadership.  By asking teachers to bring samples of all of a student's writing over the course of a week, we can get a sense of how much writing, and the quality of the writing is taking place in our classrooms.  It could also be eye-opening for PLCs<br>So: I don't know if this is something we want/need to do this year, but it's an idea to consider.<br><br>P. 63 Ideas for bringing new teachers on board for UOS and for PLCs (Jigsaw)<br>P. 65 1st paragraph -Haga is a sucker for this!  Be careful!<br>P. 70 Powerpoints during mini-lessons (oh boy!)<br>P. 71 PD for New teachers and those who need help with mini-lessons.<br><br>RUOS requires a lot of prep on the part of the teachers.  This prep looks different than "finding activities", but is still labor intensive.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Say p. 62 "There is almost nothing that can make a minilesson worse than teaching it via powerpoint."<br><br>Mean--The lesson should be more like the read aloud--personal with the teacher talking to the kids.<br><br>Matter-- A lot of the teachers are using powerpoints. I think we need to rehearse or practice the mini lesson more so they are more comfortable with it.</div>]]></description>
