The most important learnings that built up my personal leadership vision is system thinking and emotional intelligence, which teach me how to think more comprehensive and how to handle personal emotion to be a smart leader. Making more effects on shaping my personality on these two aspects are two of my personal goals to establish my personal pathway of leadership.

My first leadership goal is that I want to train my system thinking skill, which aims to learn how to be more comprehensive and efficient to show up leadership on finishing the entire task.

Rationale
System Thinking defines “the ability to see the synergy of the whole rather than just the separate elements of a system and to learn to reinforce or change whole system patterns” (Daft, 2015). In my own perspective, system thinking means to me is to pay more attention to the framework, rather than only focus on a specific detail to make it perfect, but ignore other important elements in the framework.

Action Plan 1

Firstly, I need to realize what is the weakness on my previous working manner. I used to choose what I am very interested in, and make as much as effects to gain the best result. However, I somehow gave up other important tasks so that I didn’t have enough time to finish the rest properly. According to the textbook, “With systems thinking, a leader sees the big picture and connects the dots rather than just looking at the dots in isolation.” (Daft, 2015). I would use system thinking as a tool, that is thinking more comprehensive, and consider an outline before I guide or lead others, then others can clearly understand the whole framework of a task. When I become a leader in the future, I need to balance the time that I spend on each part of the whole task to make an overall result. Even I cannot make everything perfect, I can maintain the integrity of a task.

Secondly, I would like to develop my system thinking as planning a day schedule, because a successful leader would have the ability to make a day more efficient. Richard L. Daft (2015) states that “When leaders can see the structures that underlie complex situations, they can facilitate improvement”. This means I need to make priorities for my day's plan. If I have 10 things to do in a day, I need to get the key points by figuring out what are the top 5 that I have to finish that day. Making a right order to finish each thing from a day’s schedule can help me to increase efficiency.

My second leadership goal is that I want to develop my emotional intelligence, particularly learn how to handle the pressure of multitasking to reduce the negative impacts of emotions on job performance.

Rationale
As Richard L. Daft (2015) states “Emotional Intelligence refers to a person’s abilities to perceive, identify, understand, and successfully manage emotions in self and others”.From my personal point of view, emotional intelligence is to learn how to handle my personal emotion, and do not let myself to be out of control when some significant situations happen.

In general, using this action plan above is to develop my system thinking cannot only train myself to have a comprehensive horizon to review a thing, but also grow my working efficiency, instead of spending too much time on a specific part to slow down my schedule and working process. Also, as long as I have a great control on self emotion, followers will feel that I am a reliable leader, and they would be willing to take responsibility with the multitask, then I could easier to build to emotional intelligence, get out from high pressure and make a great relationship with my working team.

Firstly, I am a person who are easy to mass up when I come across multitasking. Based on the statement from Richard L. Daft (2015), “There is a clear connection between people’s moods and various aspects of their performance, such as teamwork, creativity, decision making, and task performance”. When I feel really nervous under high pressure, I need to improve my capacity on handling high pressure, trying to clam down and clear my mind at the first time. Besides, I have to motivate myself as soon as possible, and figure out the priority of the multitask.

Secondly, I need to have a well control on my personal emotion, and can not expand my bad mood into the job performance. From the textbook, “Leaders with high emotional intelligence are aware of the impact their behaviors have on others, and they treat people with compassion, sensitivity, and kindness” (Daft, 2015). As a leader, even if my teammates have disagreement on my idea from the multitask, I should be kind to listen to their opinion, and discuss a better solution.
