Rosendo Garganta is the Founder and CEO of DEVICARE, a leading biotechnology company specializing in urogenital disease treatments, and the Founder of MEDEX PARTNERS, an industrial investment fund focusing on innovative healthcare companies.

With a background in Industrial and Electronic Engineering, as well as advanced degrees in Business Administration, International Trade, and Entrepreneurship, Rosendo has held key positions in renowned Spanish healthcare companies and advised notable biotech startups. His entrepreneurial ventures include founding DEVICARE in 2012, which has developed a wide range of clinically validated products protected by numerous international patents and distributed in over 60 countries.

In 2019, he established MEDEX PARTNERS, which currently invests in 12 Spanish healthcare companies, generating substantial revenue and employment opportunities. Furthermore, Rosendo launched BIOEMPRENDEDORES in 2022, a leading Spanish-speaking podcast focused on entrepreneurship in the healthcare sector, available on popular platforms such as Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Ivoox.

I graduated with an honour’s degree in General Nursing from Athlone Institute of Technology in 2006. With 15 years of urology experience in both Australia and Ireland, I completed a postgraduate diploma in urology from RCSI in 2019. In 2022, I became a registered nurse prescriber and earned a master’s degree in Advanced Practice in June 2023, along with a certificate in Authority to Refer for Ionizing Procedures.

Research: Research and audit are key aspects of my role. I recently participated in a study with the Health and Innovation HUB in GUH on “Convolutional Neural Network for Ultrasound Bladder Scanner.” Additionally, I contributed to a cross-sectional study on patient enablement after consultations with an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, which has been published.

In 2018 Balpreet joined Blackrock Health Galway Clinic as the Antimicrobial Pharmacist.  She has been developing and delivering the antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) programme, helping achieve two JCI accreditations to date.  Balpreet has a particular interest in the utilisation of electronic healthcare systems to help support AMS activities and continues to develop strategies locally to improve patient safety. Balpreet is currently a member of the PAMs-Net Working Group aiming to support pharmacists across all sectors to work towards the common goal of promoting responsible use of antimicrobials in all patients and limiting the emergence of antimicrobial resistance.
