Many people argue that exams do more good than harm as it gives the students the incentive to study for the exams.

However, I beg to differ as there are other ways to give the students the incentive to study such as hosting competitions whereby the winner wins a monetary award.

Rebuttal:
However, I beg to differ because not doing well in exams does not mean one is not good at that subject, but simply cannot handle heavy expectations of an exam. Therefore making it a bad way to gauge their progress.
