- The gradual attack at the beginning creates a foreboding, somewhat mysterious atmosphere. The vocals swell softly before dying off. The abrupt decay of these notes doesn't dissipate this energy like we expect - instead it creates more anticipation as we are suddenly met with silence.

The abrupt cascading entry of the full vocal ensemble creates a lot of energy, and the dynamic is much louder than we have heard previously. The large interval in the piercing soprano line heightens this.  The phrase swells to a climax before returning to a subdued drone.

The abrupt vocal portamentos create a lot of unrest. Using vocals in this way also contributes to character as the contorted, unnatural sound has an eerie connotation.

Lazy enunciation of the first syllables of each word or sound. 
The smoothness and warmth of the voice creates a tranquil, calm mood, although the minor tonality adds a mysterious, arguably foreboding and ominous feel. It's possible to interpret this as calm or foreboding or perhaps both.
Some entries are abrupt, creating a sudden, jolting feel, which is enhanced by dissonant intervals up in the high register. 
Short bursts of voice from the lower section, adding a percussive element under the melody. 
This percussive aspect contrasts greatly to the previous smooth, consonant tone colour, but it creates a building sense of climax and energy. 
Swells and use of semitone adds mysterious and foreboding character.

This note is very suspenseful because of the restraint in the voices - intentionally holding back, creating anticipation.
The dissonant second pitch, which emerges subtly, adds to the uneasy and brooding character.
There is then a sudden attack as the voices suddenly get louder. The articulation is very clear when the voices start singing actual words which creates a threatening and aggressive character.
The glissandos are extremely effective in creating a sharp attack which fades away quickly onto another, lower note, creating an eerie character.

The contrast between the introduction and the 2nd half is created by a quick emerging phrase created through layered voicing. The unexpected dynamic changes fuel the threatening and aggressive character. The slow decay in the beginning creates a foreboding atmosphere. The sudden change to a steady pulse is unexpected.

Random interjections of voices which was unpredictable. 
Heavy low drone figure comes back a few times in different strengths of tension.
