In essence, it studies a person's idiolect, the speech particular of an individual.

- While Zuckerberg uses proper apostrophes in contractions/possessives, there were 4 times in Ceglia's provided emails where this didn't occur.
- Zuckerberg writes the ellipsis without spaces between the dots, as well as between the dot and the word prior; one found in Ceglia's emails contains spaces between the dots.
- Zuckerberg will write things like "backend," "frontend," and "cannot" as one singular word, but it's observed that in the questioned emails that "backend" and "cannot" are split into two.
- The word "Internet" is capitalized by Zuckerberg, but in its one occurrence in Ceglia's emails, it is in lower-case.
- Zuckerberg does not use run-ons, but these occur at least 9 times in the questionable emails.
- To open sentences, Zuckerberg frequently uses Okay, And, Anyhow, Also, But, Then, and However while the disputed emails used Further, Additionally, Thus, Again, First, Mostly, and Paul. 
- After an if-clause, Zuckerberg uses commas, which are observed 13/15 times in his known emails but do not occur at all in the 3 times they potentially could in Ceglia's emails.
