in my opinion the importance of isabel's character is giant since it helps her protect ruth . for example if lockton or the mistress  beat ruth she will have courage to stand up for her. also if they run away or have to survive in harsh conditions
isabel  will not give up hope and will be able to save them.

Then Isabel is going to get desperate and is going to try to escape. But she is probally going to die trying. But she might not because war might save  them because they are going to get away most likely. Now miss lockton is being a little nicer to isabel and let her have a night off. I think isabel is going to fight in the war with the rebels and she and curzon are going to get separated but rejoined. Then I think that she is going to help curzon and then he is going to be even with Isabel. Any way the story is going to end in a cliffhanger so it is not going to end like that. To get back on track I know that Ruth is going to jump in but get pulled away again. I think that Lockton is going to interfer with isabel later on in the story. But will probably not if she doesnt colaberate with any one else but her and ruth. I think if she doesnt envolve she will have a really bad life. But it also could have a good effect because  she could get reunited with ruth. But she should stick with curzon. Because never give up on the friends that you make in life. then I think that madam lockton is a hard obstocle if isabel is friend lady seymour dies. While we are speaking about backround characters I think Curzon is very,very important in this story. He is probally going with Isabel on a journey. I dont know about ruth but I think ruth is going to get lost are have to stay behind. I think that will affect Isabel for a long time.slavery is just a little hill to clim over for isabel. but that proves to be wrong because she gets held back by adam lockton but the war leaves her a bit desperate  for someone to be with.

 I agree with plop the walrus because lady seymour is mysterious and most likely kind. Then isabel is going to get branded by the british authorities with the letter I for insolence. Every one comes to see isabel get branded by the man. She faints and is unconscious because of the sizzling hot iron some her life flashes through her eyes  and she just lays there for six days. then lady seymour helps isabel from dying. I think that isabel is angry at the traitor Colonel Reagen so she only likes the british  because she got hurt and it was the colonel reagens fault. And then after the big storm she gets hear about the slaves in new york about freedom and rebels or british  she wants to spy but since she doesnt beleve in the revoulution.

Also i think  that just like Dumbledore if my prediction is correct if she dies she will be at peace . 
Also , i think that lady Seymour will be one of the main protaginists  because of all the good she does . for example, she always feeds her servants and slaves  , unlike the Locktons who still give them food but it is nothing compared to lady seymour . Also she speaks out against slavery and doesn't act harsh or even snappy towards them.
Another thought is that Curzon is going to be very important to the story and after/if isabel breaks him out of prison he is going to be very useful , since even though he is a slave he has helpful ties in the rebel military because his master is Bellingham. This is important because it might grant them shelter if they decide to save ruth from the islands.
a theme for this story might be "the best prizes will be for those who work hard". For example , Isabel wanted the easy way to freedom  by joining the british but after getting rejected she she was unsure of what to do and i think this is a stepping stone to her final choice of joining the rebel army since if they win she might get freedom and this is very important to her since she already was supposed to be freed but her mistress's nephew sold her even though her mistress made a will to free them after she dies.
Also i think that Ruth's doll is going to be very important to the story since it represents Isa
