He, and his family members, are not super shocked that he’s gotten into trouble again.

At first, he is not ecstatic about going home. He’s not dreading it, either. It’s just… an inconvenience. While his peers are all jumping on the “parental hatred” and “teen rebellion” trains, he’s more annoyed about all these decisions being made for him. Even during the summers, he’s always out with friends. Because of this, he’s convinced his home has changed whilst he’s been gone. As well as his need to be in control, August is also afraid of change (they’re kind of a package deal). With this assumption that everything at home has changed, as well as his past experiences at home where he’s felt controlled and powerless, he isn’t exactly ecstatic about going home.

When he arrives at home, he’s pleasantly surprised. His age grants him more freedom, his family and his home… have actually barely changed. He confronts them and they have it out. Not physically, of course. Still, they are both wounded by the argument.

August is aggressive. He's convinced that He’s the victim, they’re the monster. How could they do this? He shouts and throws out insults like knives. They, however, attack back. They tell him off. What an asshole. They call out all his bullshit and leave him to question everything he knows about himself.
