Hello Daniel, thank you for your post! In reviewing your world, I noticed that there are some key words I missed in adding to my world (Norm referenced, Taxonomy,nApproach, Scaffolding etc.) These are all key words that I saw throughout the course work and Internet material. Thank you for the reminder! L. Tucker

Hello! I loved looking at your Wordle! I think it's so neat that we can read all the same material but have wordle opinions that counter each other. I missed gifted, target and Kagan. I also as a kindergarten teacher wouldn't have thought to put smartphone even though I know about all the great benefits in the classroom they present. Great Job! -Lauren Nettles

Assessment was a big key word for me too. Summative, formative, you name it, all kinds of assessments. I missed Kagen too, I keep on checking the fdlers website because I really want to take that class. I've heard so many good things about it. from Matt Barkevich

How interesting is to see that even when we all used the same materials we found so many different words to use in our worldle. When developing mine for example, I did thought of using samples of exceptionalities and technology devices like I see you included gifted, smartphones, tablets, ESOL, etc. For some reason(when we overthink stuff and edit it many times), I erased them. I think this is just one good example of how our students can agree or disagree on their ideas or ways they interact with new knowledge and apply it to their work ;) Good luck in your career!

Love the shape and the 2 words that stand out. They are actually words that contradict each other from what we have learned. How one student may learn is not necessarily how they will assess. This is a problem with a lot of students today. We put such an emphasis on differentiating learning, but then do not do it for standardized assessing. Great job! Morgan Brantley

Anonymous 3mo
It's really interesting to see how these reflect the way we attached to certain ideas and concepts; but I think your's in the first I've seen that featured "Marzano" prominently. The fact that that stood out immediately (and the way my spine shivered reflexively) probably says a lot. : )

Mastery, Class-room measure, and gains I overlooked. I think everyone got CRAAP and assessment. ELL was another acronym that kept popping up throughout this class from Matt Barkevich

Anonymous 3mo
Design-wise, I think the colors and choice of fonts make this Wordle very playful looking and appealing. I still can't get over the acronym "CRAAP!" I had very similar words and phrases that I used in my Wordle. Great job! - Daniel Papanikolaou

When looking at your wordle it hits to me that I missed some important words like data plans, mastery, difficulty, research and some others. This class was all about collecting data to identify student's areas of difficulties and use it to develop plans in order to help students master skills. I guess I underestimated the importance of those words because of how often we use them just like we do with some other things in life! You opened my eyes to the fact that in our career, I need to be minded of not underestimating the importance of the impact that some things (circumstances of their environment, personal issues, culture, etc.) can have on my students ability to succeed.

Tucker! I have no idea what happened to my previous comment but I have the flu so maybe I just didn't save it right? I love your font and color scheme, it is very playful. One of the words on your wordle that stands out the most to me is the word standards. As teachers we have to increase that cognitive rigor and strive to teach to the fullest extent of the standards so that we can give our students the knowledge to be successful. Working with those standards is one of the most important things we can do in kindergarten (my grade level). Thank you for sharing!

Anonymous 3mo
Lauren, no problem at all!! I hope you feel better soon, I am coming down with something not sure what it is. I have had a headache and sore neck and not feeling well :-( However, I agree teaching to the fullest extent of the standards given is what we must do as educators! When I taught Kindergarten I always taught- wow this is too much information for these little people to handle, bet we have to give them the best chance of academic success starting even at the tender age of 5 yrs old! L. Tucker

Anonymous 3mo
What I really notice in all of these is that I left out some things or see some things left out by others that we really don't think about/give priority to on an active level because they have become such a part of our daily lives. That kind of passive thinking is no good. It is funny how such a silly activity kind of tosses certain key things in your face in such unexpected ways. (The part of me that will always be a smart-alecky middle schooler keeps giggling a little every time I see CRAAP test...)

Weird, I thought I posted to your Wordle already. I was wondering about "wingman" I was thinking about throwing in a few made up words for fun in my wordle. Summative assessments, fake news, scaffolding, etc. from Matt Barkevich

Anonymous 3mo
I like some of the choice of words that you used, like "cultural," "approaches," "familial," and "kwl." Great job design-wise, though some words could've been smaller to create some contrast and emphasis. Overall, this Wordle is very appealing and successful. - Daniel Papanikolaou

Anonymous 3mo
That is funny Matt "fake news", I found some words here that I missed too like graphic, Marzano, survey, cognitive, IEP, challenging, chart and and depth. Great job on your Wordle- I love the layout and colors too :-) L Tucker

Anthony Castronovo 3mo
Its cool to see the words that rise to the top here, knowledge assessment... I wonder what the context of wingman is- could be my ignorance " don't you know, James S. Wingman was an early pioneer of early childhood assessment methods."

Lauren Nettles 3mo
I included wingman from one of the youtube videos. It is a strategy that I plan to utilize in my own classroom to engage and assess quiet students. The wingman takes notes on what each student does and how they participate. I can then take this data and create groups based on data. https://www.teachingchannel.org/videos/strategies-for-engaging-students

Anonymous 3mo
Lauren love how we have so many words in common and by the way, your colors selection was my first option :) I love how the word knowledge stands out in yours ( I have to play with the program more to see if there is an option for us to select the words we want to stand out). When looking at your words I noticed that I missed some important one like cultural, consistency and of course assessment, this last one being the tittle of the assignment, I don't know why I did not included it. I also like that you included Marzano and KWL charts since they are so commonly use in our classrooms on a regular basis. Great job! Good luck in your career! (Elsie Maldonado)

Anonymous 3mo
Lauren, I love the idea of a wingman...thats worth looking into. Thanks!!!! L Tucker

Anonymous 2mo
The wingman strategy is also one of my favorites! Especially with reciprocal teaching, if four students are assigned those jobs then the one additional student, since many groups have more than four, could assess students using the wingman strategy. -Courtney Bauserman

You did an amazing job! I love how "assessments" is totally off to the side. It's very apparent that you took your time to comprise a list of words/phrases to use in this assignment. Great job! - Daniel Papanikolaou

I love the layout of your Wordle! It's awesome that we all had similar words but it is also great to see words that we all missed. You have words listed that I didn't think to use: relevance, high, authority, Blooms Taxonomy, tool, unobtrusive, lunch and socio-cultural. I saw these words throughout research but didn't think to add them. Thanks for bringing these words to the for front. L Tucker

Anonymous 3mo
It looks awesome, I love the great amount of words included. The fact that assessment, discrimination and scales stand out I feel that it provides us (or anybody looking at it) with a general idea about the topic if we were not aware of the homework requirements. Good luck in your career! Elsie Maldonado

Anonymous 3mo
Morgan Brantley- You sure had a lot of words! I did as well. How can you not when it comes to assessments and data use.? You could have actually added every "question word" possible. Who, What, Where, Why, When, how....a majority of what assessment questions begin with! Also, is this the ChillSummer color scheme? I wanted to use it because I feel like seeing these words over and over again, a "chill summer" is necessary!

Anonymous 3mo
i think the words you chose for your Wordle reflect an interesting analysis of information regarding the topics discussed in the class. One particular word you used that striked my interest was the word discrimination. Although it almost taboo, every teacher walks into the classroom with their own bias and experiences. Discrimination is inevitable, I think it is the measure of a teacher to surpass that discrimination and teach each student equally.

I like seeing Accountability & Learning stand out here. I think that these assessments are a great way to hold ourselves accountable for the quality of education we are providing. I am excited to try some simple formative assessments in my classes to help me gauge student achievement and to improve my teaching.

Anonymous 3mo
Accountability is a huge thing for me in my classroom. I find that it is a cornerstone to success both in the classroom and in life. If we as educators don't put an emphasis on accountability it will end up going the way of the dinosaurs.. Jeff Shoobridge

Anonymous 3mo
The words that stood out to me are learning and accountability which go hand in hand. Teachers need to be held accountable for their teaching as well as students for their learning. As both instructors and students are held accountable, learning will take place. It does not always have to be a serious rigid process either. The best learning moments are when both the teacher and the students are having fun interacting with the content. -James Ross

Anonymous 3mo
I love how full your Wordle is!!! One word sticking out-ACCOUNTABILITY!!! I love it... All words after that are accountable to a classroom and some really apply with my teaching as well. Majority of your words are complex and over 3 syllables... Great Job!!!

Justine Romeo- I think you chose a set of words appropriate to the course. I liked how you used progressive words like goal-orientated and validity. I think those are aspects of test and teaching that need to be addresses=d, First, I think teachers need to have the overall goal in mind. The expectation of the standard needs to be set and different mediums ti meet that expectation need to be put into p;ace. Second, I think all test need to be addressed and checked for their validity so they provide the most accurate data. overall, i think your did a fabulous job encompassing the class language.

I love the shape of yours. With all of these words, expectations, assessments, and differentiation, we are still expected to keep smiles on our face and put them on our students faces. I am sure you were not intending it, but I take it as almost a passive aggressive or sarcastic approach. I love that. With all that teachers go through everyday, sometimes all we can do is put a smile on our face and move on. -Morgan Brantley

What a fun font you chose! Engagement really stands out and that word is fresh in my mind from assignment 9. When coming up with strategies for interventions for a middle school student, I read engagement is extremely important in helping them to succeed.

Hi Morgan. I love the pop of colors on your Wordle. One of your key words that stands out to me is differentiation. Differentiation in the classroom is all about understanding that we are dealing with a group of diverse individuals and adapting our teaching to ensure that all of them have access to learn. It should be an on-going and flexible process which not only profiles students initially but also recognizes progress and areas for improvement and adjusts accordingly to ensure learning needs continue to be met. –Martha Arana

Engagement is something we rarely think about with assessment. However, if our students are generally engaged learners with growth mindsets, they can be eager and engaged to track their own progress with assessments. -Courtney Bauserman

Jeff shoobridge- Not sure where my comment went- but I think it is very appropriate that accommodation is bold and up front. As we move through the era of personalized learning and see more and more students have individual learning plans this is going to be here for a very long time.

I really like the 3 words that stand out to me on your Wordle. Learning gains, data, and information. This information helps us to better know where our students are so we can meet them where they are and take them where we would like them to go. -James Ross

One word that stands out to me on your wordle is "questions". Questions are such an important part of teaching - many of the best lessons are when teachers teach with questions. If you teach with the end in mind and know what you will be assessing your students on, asking questions similar to what is on the assessment can help to prepare the students for the assessment. -James Ross

Anonymous 3mo
Morgan Brantley- I loved this font. I thought it would appeal to a lot of my students, What stands out to me are the largest words. Performance, thinking, questions, and strategies. These are all 4 things that affect how students learn and assess. They all have different styles for the questions they ask, their performance is always different, questioning is unique, and of course they all think differently. My big word in my wordle was engagement and all the words tied into it. I feel your big words are what make students different and then the other words say why. Great job!!!
