Not only was he brutal to those who gathered rubber, but he was also brutal to those who worked directly for him. Although people were risking their lives to keep Henry M. Stanley happy, he gave no thanks, and instead kept increasing his demands in the insanity range, which eventually ended up being too much for the workers to handle. This shows that Henry was an evil man right from the beginning, and the millions of murdered people meant nothing to him whatsoever.

You see, Stanley abused the language barrier and tricked the natives into signing a treaty where Stanley got all of the benefit. On the other hand, the natives got no benefit, and instead gained abuse that killed more than 10 million natives of The Congo Free State. As a result of the treaty, the natives were "legally" abused, as the treaty that they unknowingly signed permitted it.

However, he decided not to question the orders of King Leopold, and continued to commit the atrocities that occured because Stanley couldn't ask a simple question. What is that question, you ask? The question is a three-letter word, that takes half a second to say. The question is why. This shows that Stanley didn't have the backbone to say a three-letter word, but somehow found a way to "justify" the horrible crimes that were committed in the not-so-free Congo Free State.
