1.) In my opinion, If I were Laius I wouldn't kill my son just because of a prophecy because as a father, even if it means risking my life I wouldn't want my son to feel worthless or feel as if he shouldn't been born in the first place because it wasn't even his fault that he was destined to be born like that. I would rather help him grow to be an independent & mature son, I want to raise him properly with good morals & values so that he won't grow as a cruel man, although these things are unavoidable, I want him to experience what it's like to be loved & cared for by his own parents.

2.) If I were Oedipus, I would not react the same way because although it was very shocking for me, of course I would feel rage and anger because I would question them, why did they did this to me or why didn't they accept me as their own son. However, I wouldn't hurt anyone, especially my parents because whether I like it or not, they are still my own parents. I would rather ask them and forgive them for what they had done to me.

1. I believe that we have the power to mold and shape our lives as we were given the ability to choose which thoughts and emotions to give power to. Therefore, if I were Lauis, I would not order someone to kill my son because the prophecy, for me, is not the end all be all and that child is still a living human being. Therefore, it would be wrong for me to take another person's life.

2. If I were Oedipus, I would have reacted similarly because it would be upsetting to find out that my parents have been keeping such a lie. Finding out that your parents aren't actually your biological parents is very shocking. Therefore, I would have probably ran away as well.

1. If I were Lauis, as cruel as it sounds, I would order someone to kill my son. Not because of my own selfishness, but because I'd like to spare him the suffering that he's bound to experience. The prophecy is one that's meant to be fulfilled, and it cannot be avoided no matter what Oedipus does later on. No matter how hard he tries to deny the truth, it's going to happen because it's fate. So I believe that the best thing for me to do as a father is to end his life before it can even begin. I already know that his life is going to end in a tragedy- one that he cannot escape. And I don't want him to experience the pain that comes with his realization in the end.

2. If I were Oedipus, I think I would've reacted in a similar way. Although I'm grateful for the people who took me in and raised me into the person that I became. As much as I'd like to simply accept it and live my life the way that it is, I can't help but feel curious and have the desire to seek out my real parents. I wouldn't feel anger, but I'd be determined to find out the truth. Just like Oedipus, I'd like to go on my own journey to find out what's been hidden from me my whole life. However, I'd like to keep the prophecy in mind and be wary of what possible situations could occur from my actions.

Assuming that during this era, they believed in the prophecies heavily and seeing that Laius was a selfish king who cared more about his kingdom more than his own son, he ordered him to be taken away. If I wanted to protect myself then I should just teach my son good things so that when he grows up he won't be able to hurt anyone and I won't have to worry about myself. I may have myself killed if I keep my son, but anything can happen so why not change the future before it's too late.

2. Of course not. I may have mixed feelings and I would wonder why they hid that from me but I would feel happy and feel sad at the same time, thinking that (the adoptive parents) were my actual parents my whole life.

1. If I were to be put in Laius' position, I wouldn't bring myself to kill my own son. Although I'm well-aware of the prophecy's agonizing sufferings and unerasable nature, I see no need to kill an infant for a saying that could merely be false. Moreover, in the case where the prophecy is told to be true, I still do wish to be humane and actually form a good relationship with Oedipus, in an attempt to take control and monitor his actions for the purpose of preventing any reckless decisions that can contribute to the cruel prophecy.

2. Like Oedipus, I too would feel the same after living my whole life with such a lie. Just the fact that he was abandoned (and almost slain) by his own birth parents is enough to make someone furious. Therefore, in the end, I personally think that his reaction was not only justified, but is also the same to what I would feel if I were in his shoes.
