Life Lesson: People need to question what they do instead of simply following rules for the sake of tradition.

In the story the village all gathered together for a lottery. But you win death, though people knew it was wrong they all still participated. That is why our theme is "don't always think about yourself think about others as well." Because as long as it wasn't them no one was complaining. In the text you read this quote specifically "It's not fair" after she began to talk about how it wasn't fair and demanded a redo. At the time she was thinking about herself and her family. even though everyone had the same chances. It was completely fair.

Life Lesson: The people of the town thought that this tradition will keep the town alive . They felt like if they didn't have a sacrifice that the whole town would go downhill .
