With this method individuals can collect visual images from a variety of appropriate sources.  Possible examples include: archives, artists or designers, photography, film, diagrams, maps or even contacting experts in a particular field. Using visual images to reference your own aim, this process allows you to create a more meaningful representation for yourself and the viewer. This method allows individuals to decipher the visual signs and clues that help add towards its believability and authenticity. These images don’t always have to align with its text, but can also be used to construct new imaginative worlds and designs with the help of multiple sources as well as their own imagination.
