Zambians in a way can be more respectful than the American way of life. Sometimes when they first come to the states they might think we are rude. Why? Well in Zambia when you have visitors like family, friends or strangers you invite over, you want to welcome them with a full hug, then tell them to take a seat and you offer something to drink and food, sometimes they wont accept the food but you should still leave it out. To be more specific you usually offer cookies (biscuits) and water. But anything is fine. You don't want to be quiet either or shy else they might take that as rudeness.

Men are the ones who usually find work in the city, while the woman stay home and care for the children, this is not always true there are plenty of woman in Zambia that have a job. Some are small jobs like creating jewelry or baking. Woman do this for pocket money, but in Zambia there are more jobs that woman or anyone can have, for example being a nurse. Children in Zambia attend school. School in Zambia can be very challenging becasue its very competitive there. Children learn from a early age that school is the top priority, and you have to only focus on school and God to succeeded. Most children have the "American Dream," to come to the U.S for more schooling.

Like every area around the world there are people who go through poverty. In Zambia there are a lot of people who live in poverty. Woman try to be creative and make certain things to sell for money like jewelry, food, and pottery. The men try to find work but if they cant the family plants their own food and works on the farm. The daily life revolves around agriculture, livestock, fishing (in lakes and rivers) and fetching water from wells or rivers. This can take along time because most times the water is far from the home. One of the most famous meals in Zambia is nshima which is from ground maize. Its like a stiff portage that you can eat with chicken (curry chicken) it fills you up fast and can be made very quickly.

Depending on how your raised or where your raised there are different foods you may eat. Some Zambians eat a lot of fried termites once a year during the rainy season. But most eat curry chicken or sausage with curry in it, with rice, cabbage, and beans and nshima. There are some dishes that are not made a lot because they take awhile to make like meat pies. For beverages a lot of households drink a lot of water, and not much sugary drinks but most homes have juices like (mango juice, grapefruit juice and much more). For older people mostly men, beer is very popular.

"On December 31, 1963, the federation was dissolved, and Northern Rhodesia became the Republic of Zambia on October 24, 1964. At independence, despite its considerable mineral wealth, Zambia faced major challenges. Domestically, there were few trained and educated Zambians capable of running the government, and the economy was largely dependent on foreign expertise." To the point: Zambia gained independence in 1964 from the British. Zambia was the worlds main source of copper , so the African miners form a union and are appointed to the legislative council. Shortly after the African congress is formed Zambia is made into a federation with Malawi and Rhodesia (Zimbabwe), Zambia is given a new Constitution and Kenneth Kaunda becomes head of the National Independence Party and Zambia becomes Independent. Then a new president comes in, named Frederick Chiluba. Around 2005 Zambia economy begins to grow rapidly because of the metals they produce and they start trading with people around the world like China for example. As they start to prosper tourist start flooding in.

One big problem in Zambia is HIV, there is so much of it that doctors give medicine for free if you cant afford it, it is growing rapidly. Another huge problem is poverty. There are still people that struggle to survive that don't have electricity, food or clean water. There is a lack of homeless shelters in Zambia to help people who are in need. Zambia is till trying to improve even today.
