Constitutional Monarchy

-A form of government in which a king or queen acts as Head of State. The ability to make and pass legislation resides with an elected parliament. A constitution sets up the framework of the government.

Ex) The United Kingdom is a Constitutional Monarchy because a queen rules over them but there is a parliament in place and a constitution outlines their government.

Monarchy

-A government in which a hereditary king or queen has unrestricted power over the people.

Ex) Saudi Arabia is a monarchy because they are ruled by a king that has complete power over the people

Dictatorship

-A government in which the head of state has complete control over the state. A dictator often utilizes the police and military to maintain power. Dictatorships are not hereditary and limit the freedom of the citizens.

Ex) North Korea's leader, Kim Jung-un is an example of a dictator because he controls many aspects of his citizens lives.

The difference between democratic government and authoritarian governments is how much freedom the citizens have. Democratic governments give more power to people. Authoritarian governments control more aspects of the citizens lives.

Republic governments are the most common in the modern world. This is because Republics provide the highest rates of freedom and give reasonable power to the people. There are also many different forms of Republic governments, allowing countries to adjust to their countries needs. Some examples of countries with a Republic government in place are the United States, Algeria, Angola, Argentina, Armenia, and many more.
