Looking for Alaska is about a boy named Miles. Miles is a very shy teenager, he doesn't have many friends and has a boring life. However, this all changes for him when he switches to a boarding school called Culver Creek that his father used to go to. When he arrives he meets lots of people like the Colonel, Takumi and Lara. He also meets a girl named Alaska, who he pretty much instantly falls in love with. Now you can understand the title. There's only one problem, Alaska has a boyfriend... Throughout the book it shows how Miles changes and goes from a shy guy with no friends to a rebel rule breaker who smokes and does pranks with all his friends. It was never boring and always kept you on the edge of your seat. I liked how during the book it had a lot of plot twists. One minute you would think one thing is going to happen and then suddenly the whole story would change and something else would happen. Miles is a relatable character to me because he is a very shy person at first and doesn't talk much, which I can relate to. During the story it shows how he changes and becomes a new person which is very exciting and interesting to see this change. It is a picture of a blown out candle. The main part of the picture is the smoke however. "You spend your whole life stuck in the labyrinth, thinking about how you’ll escape it one day, and how awesome it will be, and imagining the future that keeps you going, but you never do it. You just use the future to escape the present." (Pg. 54)
Explanation: This quote is a very important part of the story and you will understand this as you read the book. Throughout the book, Alaska continues to tell Miles about this labyrinth. Miles does not really know what this means, but at the end of the book he finally understands. 
2. "I go to seek a Great Perhaps. That’s why I’m going. So I don’t have to wait until I die to start seeking a Great Perhaps.” (Pg. 5)
Explanation: This quote is important because throughout the book this is the mindset that the characters follow after this is said. They all go to seek their great perhaps now instead of waiting forever when they get too old and it is too late. 
3. “Thomas Edison’s last words were: “It’s very beautiful over there.” I don’t know where there is, but I believe it’s somewhere, and I hope it’s beautiful.” (Pg. 221)
Explanation: This quote is important because throughout the story Miles has a talent of knowing peoples last words and this has an important part in the story.

It has a lot of surprising tragedies and events that will make you want to keep reading.
