         <description><![CDATA[<div>Paula Hammond is currently the Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering a MIT. She has a lab in which she focuses on nanoparticle technology, specifically the enhancement/advancement of chemotherapy drugs. Her work with multi-layer nanoparticles allow drugs to act as water molecules, effectivley shielding them from our bodies defense system. Once the particles are in a certain pH environment, they will automatically react and deploy the drug. In 1992-1993, she received bachelors degrees in mathematics and electrical engineering. Some of the areas she studies the most are robotics in general, and specifically interactions between humans and robots. In addition to this, she is an organizer and judge for FIRST Robotics competitions.          <description><![CDATA[<div>I researched Dr. Brooke Russell. She was the first Black woman to get a Ph.D. in physics from Yale. She is now a Chamberlain Postdoctoral Fellow at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. She works in the sub field of neutrinos, and is especially studying neutrino oscillations and dark matter. Dr. Russell describes the prejudice she faces as one of only about 100 African American woman with physics related Ph.D.’s in the United States, and even describes multiple occasions of being mistaken for janitorial staff, an experience she shares with other black colleagues.&nbsp; However, she also describes that she has worked with scientists from all around the world, and once they begin working together on the questions they are trying to gain insight into, differences fade away and they are United in their work and passion.&nbsp;<br><br>Stella </div>]]></description>
