Dental technician advertisement

The advertisement which appeals more to us is the one from Corporate Dental Services. The advertisement uses a formal language and have a deeper explanation about the job. In addition, the application is more trustworthy because they focus on the use of fairly long and complex sentences. An example is “The company is looking for someone who is genuinely interested in developing and expanding the company’s competence and has a long-term perspective.” The use of contractions has been avoided, and the choice of words has been well thought out. On the other hand, the advertisement from Teeth-R-Us did not appeal to us because of the informal language and lack of information. The sense of humor is objective and may give the applicants a less serious impression about the job. The vocabulary is simple, and the text consists of contractions such as “you’re and we’d”.

The two advertisements are very different, whereas the first one has a lot less and simpler text, and the second advertisement has a higher word count with more advanced language. In the first advertisement, we are presented with a big text saying "Hey hack hola heels hets!", which is a great example on an informal text. After further reading we se that they use contractions, like "you´re" and "we´d", as well as a more direct language, for example in this one part of the sentence "and you can decipher this babble". These are all indicators of an informal language. In contrast to this advertisement, the second one does not use contractions or a direct language in the same way as the first example. This example features more complete sentences, proposing a seemingly more professional looking advertisement compared to the first one. Even though the second advertisement looks more professional, we both believe the first advertisement gets it message across because it is simple, direct and also had a tad of humor.

The two advertisements are very different. The first one focuses much more on gaining interest and is in that way funnier and less formal. The latter on the other hand draws less attention and is more formal. For example, does the first text use contractions as you´re and we´d. The second one absolutely avoids this and is therefore much more formal.

An advertisement for a position in a firm is supposed to make someone want the job. Therefore it is important to create an advertisement that appeals to the correct audience. The first probably appeals more to a younger audience, but for those who want to work in a serious workplace, this advertisement can seem more unserious. The second advertisement might seem more formal, however, the downside is that it does not create much interest since it contains much text and nothing that draws the audience's attention.

The Hiy Hack Hola Heely Hets advertisment is very informal. They are using contractions , which are not appropriate in an advertisment. Examples of a contractions is “You’re” and “We’d”. The advertisement are using a frivolous picture, and the sentences are frivolous. It seems that they did not put any effort into the advertisement and they are using riddles and up side down text, which is not appropriate for a job application. They are stating that a sense of humor is necessary for the job, however, that should not be a requirement a job in the dental industry.

Now let us ask ourselves, why is the second advertisement more appealing than the first one? first of all, the second advertisement starts off describing the position in a very formal and professional manner, as if only the people applying for the position could understand. it avoids the excessive use of contraction and abbreviation as much as the first advertisement, which creates informality.

We have two different dental advertisements in front of us, both wanting people to apply to their service. We think the first advertisement will receive the most attention due to its huge headline. It is most likely to caught someone’s eyes than the other text below. But as soon as they read the first advertisement, it will not have their attention for exceedingly long. Arguably, the headline is non informative. It does not make sense in any way. If we look at the next advertisement, we will quickly notice that the text is considerably longer, which may lose the attention it wants. There also is no headline, thereby it is hard to see at first eyesight what the advertisement is regarding. On the other hand, the text is very formal and present the information in an exceptional way, which makes the advertisement look more serious and will get more applications. The second advertisement also applies to a further mature audience.

The “Corporate Dental Services” advertisement appeals to us the most. The reason for this is that the advertisement is written more formally. It gives us more information about what is required to work there and what the work can offer us. Formal texts do not use contractions, unlike the other advertisement which uses “you´re” and “we’d”. The “Corporate Dental Services” use more active language, an example of this is “The company is looking for someone”, in this sentence the company is the subject. This appeals to me because it gives an overview of what the job position requires, which makes it easier for me to know if the position is suiting for me.

A good advertisement gets its message across a specific group of people by being precise, interesting, formal, and brief. The two examples shown in the task does not fill all these acquirements. The first one – “HIY HACK HOLA HEELY HETS” – is targeting a specific group of workers – which is dentists – while the also being brief. With that said, the advertisements is lacking formality, which is important to get the right attention. There are jokes, unprofessional language, and a bad looking page. For example, “(Those lacking a sense of humor need not apply.)”, is written in the advertisement. At the same time, it does make it eye-catching.

The second advertisement is both formal and well written, while also being specific on which people they seek for the job. However, in contrast with the first example, this advertisement is too long, and is lacking the factors that make it interesting.

In conclusion, neither of the examples are optimal advertisements. The preference is something in between those two, as it should be nicely balanced between formal and interesting at the same time.

The two advertisements for the dental technicians jobs are different. The first advertise use humor to get more people to apply for the job. While using humor as a literary device, they seem informal. “HIV HACK HOLA HEELY HETS!” is a interesting way to make people look at your application. Humor is subjective and this seems like humor only dentist would understand.

The second advertisement is also searching for dental technicians but focuses more on professionality and skills, rather than humor. They do this through formal language to make readers see them as professionals. In addition, the job is described detailed in the advertainment.

The formal advertisement seems more professional. If we where to look for a job as a dentist, we would apply for this job. The other one is too unserious and childish. Therefore, we would choose the other one, because we see the dental industry as more serious than childish.

This ad is the one that appeals the most to us. This is due to the use of informal language and humor as a literary element in the ad. The words you’re and we’d are examples of contractions which are examples of informal language. The ad is very simple and gets the point across, even with the informal language and humor. The ad uses few colors and little text, which makes it easy to read and not overwhelming. The ad grabs your attention with the big senseless phrase, which makes you curious, but it also manages to hold your attention with the riddle you can decipher. The ad has an unserious and humoristic sense to it which makes it appealing to us.

The two texts use two opposite approaches to spread their message and find their target audience. The first text offers a comedic, laid back and more humane approach. It clearly has the purpose of hiring someone with a sense of humor. The text reads “Those lacking a sense of humor need not apply”. It is heartfelt, creative, and refreshing to see a job advertisement that takes itself less seriously. Nonetheless the second text appealed more to me. If I were to apply to a tehnical and demeaning job such as a dental technician, I would look for a professional, well-paying job with the best possible conditions. The workplace in the latter text is clearly a more professional business looking for professional employees to grow and develop within. They also offer perks such as a car and competitive salary. The sentence “we have been ranked one of the 10 best places to work” is also an incredible reassurance proving the workplace and environment is of high quality.

When these dental firms are looking to hire, we can clearly see that they used a much more formal language in the second advertisement, while humor is a clearly visible element used in the first one. Using humor in a job advertisement is somewhat unusual and makes it stand out from other advertisements. This can give a positive effect of attraction by the right people. The second advertisement is written in a very formal language. The advertisement is very informal and blends in with many other similar adverts. For someone who prefers a more formal, traditional job environment this will be a good fit for them, while I think the point of the other one is to avoid exactly this. The use of humor can be a trick used to attract employees who can have a good laugh and will think that this advertisement is funny, and that this says something about their job environment. In our opinion, the advertisement who appeals the most to us is the first advertisement. The humor makes it stand out and makes us to want to know more.

The advertisement from Teeth-r-us is very informal. First of all their name is a word play on the name of a toy shop which shows some sign of frivolity. Then the title or heading of the advertisement is also supposed to be funny. This is very informal because the title is supposed to let the reader know what the text is about. The text is short and does not really inform the reader what they are qualified in or what the job is really like. The text is not informative. They do not request applications but have walk-in interviews. The advertisement from Corporate dental services is more formal. in their text they really let the reader know what they are looking for, what qualifications they need and what the job is like. They are a much more professional company because they have been ranked the top 10 best places to work and they even give their they want their applications sent by mail, so they are more critical about who is signing up for the work.
